What Types of Positions are Available?

- Swim staff (lifeguards and/or WSI certification)

Blue Rill Staff Members Possess These Background and Personality Traits…
- Entering 11th grade or older.
- A love of children and the ability to feel comfortable working with them.
- A strong sense of responsibility and maturity.
- Patience and the ability to work and learn well from others.
- Flexibility, initiative, resourcefulness, imagination, adaptability and a sense of humor.
- Good health and the capacity for the physical and emotional demands of working in camp.
- Experience working with young people.

What is Expected of a Blue Rill Staff Member?
- Understanding the importance of being role model for the children you work with each day.
- Supervising and staying with your group all day.
- Setting a positive example in good manners, proper language and appropriate dress.
- Ensuring safe and happy campers.
- Cooperating and demonstrating good sportsmanship and teamwork.
- Participating at all activities.
- Encouraging and praising campers to develop skills and self-confidence.
- Assisting with instruction in swimming, sports, crafts etc. Specialty staff will lead these activities.
How Long is the Blue Rill Camp Day and Camp Season?
- A summer season at Blue Rill lasts 8 weeks and staff must be available for the full season.
- All staff members will be required to spend time before camp at orientation meetings.
- If you are not a bus counselor, your camp day begins at 8:45am and ends after the buses depart camp at 4:00pm.
- One evening of the season, some counselors will be required to remain in camp to assist with their group’s special “late night.”
- Senior Division hours may vary due to trip schedules.
