Your Q & A's about Blue Rill Day Camp
Q What is the most important activity at Blue Rill Day Camp?
A

Without a doubt, swimming. Each group has both an instructional swim and a free swim daily, in one of our three heated pools. The program is run by Red Cross certified water safety instructors and lifeguards.

Q And you add boating?
A

Yes, in our beautiful private lake which is alive with many activities. Campers get to sample rowboating, pedal-boating, waterbiking, kayaking and canoeing. Then we add nature study, fishing and even... frogging! (Of course, they're friendly frogs!)

Q How about your sports program?
A

We stress sports as a vitally important part of every camp day. We're not a sports specialty camp, yet we feature one of the most comprehensive sports programs in all of day camping, including the following daily sports offerings: Basketball, Horseback riding, Soccer, Tennis, Football, Karate, Softball, Track and Field, Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Swimming, Volleyball, Hockey, Newcomb, T-Ball, Whiffle Ball.

Q What else do campers do all day?
A

Our activities are almost endless: a full arts and crafts program featuring jewelry making, woodworking, wearable art, sewing, puppetry, calligraphy, and mask making; a performing arts program including drama, music and dance, with involvement for campers at all levels; and many others including magic, storytelling, computers, cooking, bowling.

Q How about outdoor education?
A

We are proud to offer a multi-station ropes course, climbing walls and zip lines. Our campers amaze themselves as they build self-confidence, initiative and group living skills on this apparatus. The staff members who supervise these activities are specially trained to do so and it adds up to a tremendous growth experience for everyone.

Q How about the transportation?
A

We manage our "friendly" and comfortably air conditioned bus system to make sure that every ride to and from Blue Rill is the beginning and end to a great camp day. Ours is door-to-door, with only professional bus drivers and with a camp staff member on every single bus. We continually stress a tight safety program with drivers, counselors, campers and parents. We feel that transportation of our campers is one of the most important responsibilities we have, and we take it very seriously.

Q What about lunch?
A

Lunches brought from home are refrigerated immediately upon arrival at camp. All campers receive milk or fruit juice at lunch and an ice cream snack later in the afternoon. If you prefer, your child may purchase hot sandwiches on a daily basis.

Q It all sounds like tremendous fun. Can we visit during the camp season?
A

Absolutely. While we do not have a scheduled visiting day, we are glad to accommodate your request for a visit. You will have the opportunity to see part of your child's exciting day.
